Transformative Student Leadership: Beyond the Juvenile Justice System Part 1
October 6, 2020 @ 1:30 pm
Youth Law Center, in partnership with Underground Scholars and San Mateo College’s Project Change, invites you to join us for an exciting two-part webinar series, on October 5th and October 6th, from 1:30pm-2:30pm Pacific each day.
Parts 1 and 2 of our series will feature a panel of California student leaders who have lived experience in the juvenile justice and/or foster care systems, facilitated by Dr. Victor Rios, an award-winning professor, speaker, and author. Students will discuss the barriers that system-involved students face in pursuing higher education and potential strategies for addressing these challenges through student leadership.
Who should attend? Students who have been directly impacted by the juvenile justice and/or foster care systems, members of organizations that provide direct services to system-involved youth, and anyone interested in supporting system-involved young people through policy and system change can benefit from hearing from these exemplary student leaders.
We encourage everyone to register for both sessions (each session will have different content), or choose just one of the two days to attend. (Attending Part 1 is not necessary to attend Part 2.)
