Cordelia Istel
Director of Organizing @Arts For LA
Cordelia Istel is an organizer, educator, and artist with over a decade of experience working at the intersection of cultural programming and social justice. Before joining the Service Employees International Union as an External Organizer, she served as Director of Programs & Operations for a non-profit theater company engaging climate justice in urban environments, Manager of the Met Opera’s Education Department, and also helped create the United States Department of Arts & Culture – a national network of activists using arts-based strategies to address urgent issues facing their communities.

Kristin Nimmers
Policy and Campaign Manager @CA Black Power Network
Kristin Nimmers serves as a Policy and Public Affairs Manager with California Calls, where she leads and coordinates policy analysis, legislative advocacy and coalition-building. She also serves as a coordinator with the Black Census and Redistricting Hub, working with organizations across the state to engage Black communities in the redistricting process and ensure political districts are drawn fairly and equitably.
Lucy Salcido Carter
Public Policy Director @CalNonprofits
Lucy Salcido Carter, MA, JD is the Public Policy Director at the California Association of Nonprofits (CalNonprofits). Lucy directs policy initiatives that protect and promote California’s nonprofits. Her work includes developing and implementing campaigns that encourage advocacy and civic engagement among CalNonprofits’ more than 10,000 organizational members.

Jan Masaoka

Jan Masaoka is CEO of the California Association of Nonprofits (CalNonprofits), a statewide policy alliance of more than 10,000 nonprofits speaking to government, philanthropy, and the public at large. Through active policy, educational, and research work, California works with legislators and regulators to strengthen the economic and regulatory climate for nonprofits. CalNonprofits has offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Sacramento, and through our social enterprise, we are also a full-service insurance broker and provide health insurance to more than 25,000 nonprofit staff.
