The UC Santa Barbara Bren School’s Environmental Justice Club Presents: 4th Annual Environmental Justice Symposium
May 19-20, 2022

The 2022 EJ Symposium will explore topics ranging from the roots of environmental harm to professional advice for careers in environmental justice. This event brings together interdisciplinary scholars, activists, and thought-leaders to envision the future of environmental justice.

THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER – SARAH BISCARRA DILLEY
Friday, May 20th | 2pm at Bren Hall
Sarah Biscarra Dilley (b. 1986, unceded Nisenan land, unratified Treaty “J” region) is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, writer, educator and member of the yak titʸu titʸu yak tiłhini Northern Chumash tribe. Her interdisciplinary process is grounded in collaboration across experiences, communities, and place. Relating land and beings throughout nitspu tiłhin ktitʸu, the State of California, and places joined bys hared water, her written and visual texts connect extractive industries, absent treaties, and enclosure to emphasize movement, resilience, sovereignty, and self-determination.

FOOD JUSTICE PANEL

This panel will discuss different themes related to food justice including food sovereignty, social movements, community action, local and sustainable food systems, and more.
