2022 Poetry Out Loud

Are you a high school student in SB County? Join us for the annual Poetry Out Loud competition! We will be accepting registration through Friday February 4 for students to submit a recorded poem from the Poetry Out Loud anthology. Finalists will recite their poems live over Zoom on Thursday February 7, and the winner goes on to the state competition.

Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program that encourages the study of great poetry by offering free educational materials and a dynamic recitation competition for high school students across the country. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life. Poetry Out Loud is a partnership of the National Endowment for the Arts, Poetry Foundation, and the state and jurisdictional arts agencies.
This year’s competition for Santa Barbara County is being coordinated by Corazón del Pueblo in collaboration with the Santa Barbara County Office of Arts and Culture.
