Ballot Endorsements 2024

Nonprofits can—and should—harness the power of voting with our missions! As 501(c)3 organizations, we can provide an effective educational guidepost for the communities we serve, and inspire public consciousness around voting as a critical tool for societal change. 

For many years, The Fund for Santa Barbara has engaged in our own internal collaborative ballot endorsement process, in which we’ve been able to draw on the collective wisdom and energy of our staff, Board, and Grant Making Committee members to make informed ballot endorsement recommendations. These endorsements have been a crucial part of our progressive political engagement strategy, and served as guideposts for other progressive organizations in the Central Coast.

This year, we’d love to invite your organization to learn how to approach making ballot endorsements in a legal, engaging, and empowering way ahead of the 2024 elections! We’ll support you with the tools, collaborative facilitation skills, and resources to support your organization’s ballot endorsement journey. 

By developing a clear understanding of engagement strategies and how to make the process easy and time-efficient for your organization, participants will:

  • Feel empowered to legally and safely engage in organizational political advocacy
  • Gain access to The FUND’s Ballot Endorsement Toolkit, including timelines, process documents, and fillable templates
  • Receive communications templates and support for sharing ballot endorsements externally
  • Gain access to a variety of election resources and individualized technical assistance
  • Feel connected to a variety of Central Coast regional nonprofit partners in co-creating a strong community of support!
  • This workshop is open to all, including organizational staff/volunteers, executive leaders, board members, and advisory council members. We recommend that organizations send 1-3 representatives. 

Our series will feature two workshops, with optional office hours for groups to ask questions, problem solve, and seek support from The FUND’s lead workshop staff. Please note that individuals must register for the entire two-workshop series.
